One from the first trip to Bluffy Creek off Hulseytown Road. I have been photographing here for about 8 years. Can’t remember how I found these Mayapple, probably scouting for deer. This bloom is about spent and has begun to droop.
One of the best images I have ever gotten of the Mayapple bloom. You really have to get down low to get this image and you need good light. The sun was in and out and was relatively soft here. Canon 5d mark lll, Sigma 105 macro, 1600 ISO, 1/125 at f11.
I finally got some sunshine on the seeds in the backyard. I wish I knew what these plants are. They are a vine which blooms small white flowers in August and then produces these seeds in November. The seeds are much more interesting than the flowers.
